To lay eyes upon a face as smooth as velvet with slate blue eyes that can pierce the most hardened heart and a delicate smile that erupts in spurts magnifying your delight in the wonder of this baby is a living miracle that can be witnessed, held, smelled, and even kissed. Listening to 5 month old Grey Devall coo, squeal and even fuss brought me back to the awe of GOD. Even to set eyes upon his big sister, soon to be 4-year-old Anna, who just a few months ago seemed to be so little is now so big…her chubby cheeks slender and her little legs long and lanky. The simple growth of a human is fascinating. 😉
The boys and I drove to just inside the Louisiana border to Sulphur, LA to visit the Devall’s. They are dear friends of ours that had once lived in Kingwood, but transferred back to their home state to live near family once Anna came along. Allison and David are Seth’s Godparents and Seth does not let anyone forget this. If we haven’t seen them in a few months then suddenly we are interrogated until a date is set to get everyone together. That is the reason for the quick one day road trip. We hadn’t seen Grey since he was born! Travesty! 😉
Seth was on cloud nine getting to hold his ‘God brother’:

It was a great day catching up with my dear friend whom I miss. Now I need to rest, get ready for the book signing which I’m very excited about (tomorrow at BEST WISHES GIFTS in Kingwood, on Northpark Dr. 2-4pm) and then we have the visitation and rosary for Don Vrba Sunday and his funeral Monday. Thank you for the prayers, I know his family is feeling them.
I can’t help but think about sweet little Grey, his fleeting smile and feel that looking upon a baby, holding him and loving him is like an elixer to bring all that is right back together in the world. 😉
Blessings
Shannon
