The world around me feels lighter now that I’ve been given a clearer picture of the path ahead of me.  Granted the path of clarity only reaches within six months or so and at this point though it looks straight I will never know if there is a curve until I come upon it.  Despite that understanding I choose to grasp this gift of feeling as if I have a handle on my purpose at hand.  As I’m walking on this seemingly straight road I am asking God to clear the path to keep me going in the right direction.

Amidst this clarity I do sense this other ‘theme’ that is penetrating daily – keeping focused solely on God.  Nothing else.  These past few days in My Daily Bread the lessons have been 1.) Mind your own business and listen only to what God asks of you in YOUR life  2.) Daily keep in your mind and heart what God wants you to do, how does He want you to act, and react.  3.) No man knows everything, in fact at times it’s better to NOT know the answers.  Control your curiosity instead choose to learn only about the truths in which God reveals to you and finally today, 4.)  Do not put too much trust in human friendships and human remedies.  Humans can only help up to a point because there is a limit to their wisdom and understanding – trust and rely only on God.

Along with these lessens I am in the Cornerstone Scripture Study reading the letter from James and this week he delves into holding our tongues.    James 3:6  “In the same way the tongue is a small member and yet has great pretensions. Consider how small a fire can set a huge forest ablaze. The tongue is also a fire. It exists among our members as a world of malice, defiling the whole body and setting the entire course of our lives on fire, itself set on fire by Gehenna.”

The lessen this week was like an appendage to the lessen from My Daily Bread to ‘mind your own business’ and ‘Control your curiosity’.  It’s all about how we are reacting and how we are spending our daily energy.  If we are so busy talking about other people’s business and trying to be ‘in the know’ then there is not much time left to rely on God and focus on what HE wants you to do with that energy and time that HE is giving you in the day.  It all correlates.  If we adhere to all of the above then at least our own lives could and would be more peaceful.

I don’t know if I’ve been ‘bad’ at this and that is why it’s being handed to me daily on a platter with a heavy dose of ‘humility’ or if God is allowing my eyes, ears and heart to become aware of these things so as to better prepare for what is to come.  I’m human, I do not have the capacity for this answer.  But I do have the ability to pay attention and be mindful of my Teacher.

Blessings
