The king of the 7 deadly sins…the instigator of all our insecurities…the wall that blocks our path to success…it ruins relationships, jobs, families and ultimately kills us spiritually. I’m personally familiar with this nasty culprit, I try daily to keep it at bay but sometimes it is so hard when it learns to mingle with integrity. That is when it is most dangerous, when it begins to mingle with characteristics that are good and worthy then it becomes almost undetectable until provoked, like a cancer inside the body that lies dormant until touched and then it spreads like wildfire.
Pride – ugh. 🙁 I had a long conversation with a young friend of mine today that was struggling with reaching for what it is that God desires in their life but frustrated because pride gets in the way. Besides nipping at the core of our sexuality, pride is the enemies next greatest weapon.
It helped to speak with my friend today…as we walked through the various issues that muddled up the mind I recognized a lot of my own personal struggles that could parallel. As I encouraged my friend to pray for the strength to overcome this internal battle I found myself listening to what the Holy Spirit was obviously telling us both. Fight. Don’t lay down and let all these things come crashing in and shove you in that bag. Fight like hell.
Turn the pride around and use it against the enemy…be too proud to allow him to get you down or backed into a corner with his cheap lies and fear. We as daughters/sons in Christ…as His beloved…have the greatest gift to be PROUD of and that is HIS LOVE.
