I love the little moments when God reaches out and says ‘HEY! You need to do this!’ 🙂 Yesterday I text a girlfriend of mine ‘Happy Birthday’ and she immediately wrote back letting me know that my ears must have been burning because I was brought up in conversation. She immediately followed that with ‘Have you ever heard of the daily devotional named Jesus Calling? ….It is AWESOME. I encourage you to go get it.’
What was cool about that simple statement at the time is that I can’t find my little red book I’ve been reading as a devotional (it is the follow up to My Daily Bread) and every morning I keep praying, “God, I wish I could find that little red book.” I know it’s around here some where but for whatever reason I can’t find it!! So she gives me this suggestion and I think “Ok, maybe I’ll check it out.”
Again, this morning I find myself praying and asking God to help me find that little red book. I literally prayed, “I need concrete direction daily. I miss having that book!” A few hours later I held a small prayer group at my home. It is a monthly gathering where we talk about how we’ve been close to God, what’s draw us away and it always ends up in some really good discussion and prayer. At the end of the meeting if someone has something they’ve read, a particular passage or devotional, etc that has touched them they bring it to and share with the group. This time no one thought to bring anything but one woman spoke up and said, “I have this amazing devotional that I read and I meant to bring it today because it always speaks to me. You guys should get it, it’s called JESUS CALLING.”
I about flipped out! 🙂 I grabbed my phone to check the text I’d received the night before and sure enough it was the same devotional mentioned to me now TWICE and I was told both times ‘YOU SHOULD GET IT.”
Okay, okay, I HEAR YOU! 😉
So, I’m pretty certain that you’ll be hearing more about this ‘Jesus Calling’ devotional once I receive it. Especially since I have not received any new questions or delimmas in awhile. 🙁 Maybe I didn’t ‘hear’ God correctly when He told me to embark on that little task… though the response from this past video on cutting was powerful. I did have one woman contact me and let me know that she was about to ‘cut’ and then watched the video and put down her blade. AMEN! ALLELUJIAH!
