God is not about me and Him, He is about YOU and ME. A long time ago I came to realize that my purpose in life could not be accomplished alone. The obvious first step was to acknowledge God as my ‘driver’ but the second step was to accept HELP from others whether it be directions, to teach me how to drive, to offer me another route or to come along for the ride for a while to keep me company, energized and motivated to keep going.
Before I wanted to do everything my way or it wouldn’t get done the way ‘I’ envisioned it. First of all, God LAUGHED OUT LOUD at that notion and second of all He taught me real quick that I was going nowhere fast without the gifts and talents of others. 🙂
Today was a day packed with making connections. I planned on a ‘catch up’ day from the day I had with Neal and after spending most of the morning FaceTiming with my girlfriend in Germany and then talking with my mom I got one item on my list done. I let it go realizing I needed to have those conversations and I did get something done.
At lunch I met with a woman who contacted me after our introduction at a recent Human Trafficking information evening. She wanted to learn more about Hopeful Hearts Ministry and see what we could do to help one another. The one hour lunch turned into two hours. Finally home and back to my ‘to do’ list I checked emails and was delighted to see emails from two separate women I connected with almost three months ago at the University of Dallas Ministry Conference. Both were great connections and opened the door to future collaborations.
Before I knew it I had to make it to a doctor’s appointment and then get the boys from school. Nothing else was done on my ‘to do’ list so now I’m two days behind! But that’s okay..I’m sure God was giggling when I told Him what I had planned anyway. 😉 What He had planned added another piece to my puzzle, can’t beat that!
Who are the ‘connections’ in your life right now? How are they helping you with your purpose? 🙂
Blessings
Shannon
