Today I couldn’t get my body to move faster than a tortoise pace.  My calendar was clear except for an appointment I had this morning and a lunch meeting which made it easy for me to accept the laziness.

Despite myself I managed washing three loads of laundry, then did my best to be a listening ear in the appointment, got a week’s worth of grocery shopping knocked out and then spent three hours at the lunch meeting.  Before I could realize what happened the day was gone and it was time to get the boys.

How easily it would have been for me to cancel the appointment and lunch, wrap up in a blanket and veg out the entire day grazing on the edge of sleep.  I literally gave it to God this morning and said, “I can do nothing and rest or I can do whatever it is you call me to do today.”  And so He did.  The appointment was a must, encouraging a newly pregnant woman who is in fear of losing this baby like the devastating miscarriage she suffered in the past.  All she needed was to talk about her fears and all God asked of me was to listen and in the end encourage her of the truth she already knew in her heart and to be happy for this pregnancy.

I needed to go to the lunch meeting, regardless of the fact that I failed to take a shower, because the person needed to talk and I needed to hear what they had to say.  Now I know how to pray for them and how I can be an encouragement too them during a tough time ahead.

God gives people
This speaks to me beyond words.

What was to be a non eventful day turned into a blessing.  The biggest blessing of the day was when I went to make the dinner that Seth picked out from one of our cookbooks and it dawned on me to have HIM cook it.  The second I asked he was by my side.

Seth did a great job with dinner and it took away any complaints I might have heard otherwise. 😉 All it took was making the conscious decision to turn the day around and it turned into a success.

The next time your day threatens to suck you into a melancholy blue take one step out of the ordinary and see where it takes you.

Blessings
