One of the first messages I saw this morning was from a young girl whom I believe is a survivor of assault, though she has yet to fully come out with details of what has caused her the pain she endures.  This message was of a post she saw on Tumblr.  I won’t share the actual picture because I wouldn’t want it to be something that could be copied and shared via tweet, pinned or whatever media outlet there is again.  But I do want to share with you the shocking message:

*(Know that I have to delete many of the vulgar verbs)*

Pin Her Down  –  Whether kissing, caressing, $#@#% or @#%#  pinning her down will drive her insane.  The feeling of helplessness turns many women on and is a common #@$% fantasy.

This vile and deploring message is displayed like the popular British sayings with the Crown and “Be Calm…” picture.  It actually has Rule #263 or something to that effect on it.

These are the messages that are reaching our children.  I can’t imagine what the other 262 ‘rules’ are!

An hour or so later I received an email from a friend who shared with me this link to news coverage on the Steubenville, Ohio rape charges:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/kia-makarechi/cnn-steubenville-coverage_b_2896948.html

I’m personally offended by CNN and this injustice that is considered ‘news’ coverage.  They focus on the two young men charged, raising them up as victims playing back an audio of one of the accused saying, “No one is going to want me now.”

Really?  I had to do a double take and listen to that again because surely that had to be the victim’s words.  Where is the coverage of how this victim is feeling having been betrayed, assaulted and shamed?

The reporter highlights their apologies to the victim.  I listened closely….there was no apology for the rape only for the pictures taken and that came from the accused that got two years instead of the one for posting ‘pornography’ on media outlets.

Last I hear the reporter discuss the one and two year sentence in a juvenile delinquent center and the ‘lasting effect’ it will have on their lives.

Where is the reporting about the lasting effect on the young woman’s life?  What about the sentence she holds in working to overcome the shame, guilt, humiliation and un-worth?

I say it many times on this blog and I’ll continue to say it ‘SHE NEEDS A VOICE’!  Please pray for this young woman.

I’d love to hear YOUR THOUGHTS on this topic.  Comment below!
