The greatest gift I received today was hearing the stories of those who told me who they wanted to ‘gift’ the Hopeful Hearts Charm. When a charm is purchased I will give one to a survivor I counsel or I ask the purchaser if they have a person in mind I’ll send the extra one to them to gift if that is the case.
One story in particular was of a young woman who is a survivor of abuse buying the charm for herself. I asked if she wanted me to ‘gift’ the extra and at first she said she didn’t know of anyone to give it to so I should do it.
The next day I got a call asking if she could change her mind because she had found someone to ‘gift’ it to. She was in a random situation talking to a grandmother of a friend and this woman began to talk to her about her life. Within this short conversation this woman divulged the private matter of the abuse she incurred. The young woman was shocked but didn’t let on and instead confided about the abuse she went through (which she doesn’t talk about to many people).
In this short exchange they found a commonality that is more binding than living in the same town or knowing the same people. This digs deeper into the soul. Now they have a connection that won’t be broken. The young woman picked the extra charm up today and plans to write the older woman a letter and giver her the charm.
This story was a gift to me today. The charm means something not only to me but to others and I’m in awe.
NOW!
Blessings
Shannon
