I have no excuse except to say I’ve been keeping what is important and top priority in the forefront. Therefore, due to the fact it is late and I’m exhausted I’ll share my weekend in pictures:
First, I don’t have a picture for this but during Seth’s baseball practice on Saturday morning he hit the ball to the fence…had it been the game that got cancelled I’m certain he’d have a home run. I could see this little personal victory give some wind to his sails. Do you have a child that sometimes you wish they’d catch a break because it would help their self-esteem? Yes…this was it. 🙂 Wish I had it in pictures.
After rushing home from baseball practice I picked up Ryan and took him all over Kingwood to find a florist who would help us with a VERY LAST MINUTE corsage for his DATE to the homecoming! I’ll talk a little more about that in a bit. Once we found the corsage I rushed to sew a button on his sports jacket and then off to a wedding shower.
This young man (as pictured in the bottom two photos above) is Ryan Sessions, he was a freshman in my first year as high school youth minister at St. Martha. I’ve walked a fair share of his journey with him and it is a blessing to be there as he embarks on this amazing Sacrament. Another blessing I received from attending the shower was to see two of my favorite ‘Dad’s’…who have helped me in youth ministry and are GOOD MEN. Brian Hughes and Bobby Doyle. Love them both. The youth ministry program wouldn’t be anything without Bobby and his snacks and HUGS.
I left the shower, picked up a very dapper, good-looking Ryan, and headed to his girlfriend’s house (yes…girlfriend…they’ve been good friends since the 5th grade, were closer last year but he proclaimed, We are too young to be boyfriend/girlfriend!” and now I suppose they are ‘old’ enough as they are now both 15.) We love her and being they attend separate schools and are focused on their academics first…can’t complain.
Afterward I dashed to Mass and then to our Teams of Our Lady Meeting before calling it a night.
This morning my friend Jennifer, who owns Jennika’s at King’s Harbor, picked me up bright and early and we went to Round Top where it is miles and miles and miles of vendors selling what might appear as junk but is treasure to a woman like Jennifer who can turn it into beautiful treasure.
This collage of pictures doesn’t even do it justice. We have another full day of walking, looking and buying so I’ll try to get a better view.

There is no shortness of strange here…some of the greatest joy I’ve had is people watching and seeing the crazy things made out of tin and wood!
Jennifer’s brother works for the police and happened to be managing traffic. Plus we found the best invention ever…wine on a stick! 😀
Why didn’t I ever think of this on a hot summer day?
It is a blessing to be here with Jennifer and see her in action. She has asked me for years since she’s opened her store to come with her and see what this place is about and now I’m addicted. I wish I had more disposable income. 😉
This feels like it’s my first time to sit down all weekend and I’m not sure I can feel my feet. 😀 Every corner I’ve turned this weekend has been a blessing. Not a ‘in your face’ or ‘miraculous firework’ moment but simple blessings all the way around that together make up the joy of life.
Taking it all in and nothing for granted.
Blessings
Shannon
