“How many moments do we miss in a day?” Carlos Whittaker of the popular blog Ragamuffin Soul posed to the audience. Many, I thought. And squirmed in my seat as the thought meandered to the purpose of this blog and how God ‘shows up’ daily. Carlos mentioned his blog, how he’d been blogging for 9 years and then went into these examples of how the concept of ‘making moments’ emerged from happenstance moments that blew into big opportunities allowing his family to be a face of Christ to many.

“We can be a moment maker for others to see Christ’s face fresh.” A created moment, Carlos explained, doesn’t have to be huge, it can be a comment made, simple gesture, or time spent that lifts another up.
Exactly. 😉
I’m attending the Catalyst Conference in Dallas which is “a gathering of ‘young leaders’ (:D ha ha…see I am still young…right??), a movement of influencers and world changers who love Jesus, see things differently, and feel a burden for our generation.”
Pretty cool, right? 😉 So far so good and it’s only day one! I’ll admit it is pretty cool to sit in the audience and bask in validation. We aren’t being ‘spoken to’ we are reminding one another of what we’ve been called to, how best to move forward, and remember who we are as the individual knit by the hands of God with all of these gifts and talents that drive us daily.
I was also given a pretty CLEAR reminder when I went to the session with Christy Wright (Christybwright.com) who is a business coach with Dave Ramsey, “Put down the PHONE when you are with the people you value.” AMEN! She stressed the importance of making boundaries between the ministry work and family. Boundaries are needed or we will lose ourselves. Protect those boundaries and keep time for the hierarchy of what we value in life.
The messages are messages we deliver to others and yet we forget them for ourselves. We must not lose what we value most or we will lose who we are and find ourselves ‘burnt out’ and disenchanted with God’s call into ministry.
Can you relate? What do you do to make moments in your life and to keep those you value close?
Blessings
Shannon
