Thanks to my dear friend, Joy, who told us about St. Rita! We had another game tonight ( and yes, another one on Saturday…) and Seth was saying, “I just want to one time in my life get a home run.” (In kid pitch the home run the ball does not have to go over the fence…just far enough in the outfield to allow the player to run all of the bases…and I’m sure ALL of you are saying, “I know, Shannon!!” 🙂 ) Anyway, I told him what Ms. Joy told me about St. Rita and said, “If you feel nervous just ask St. Rita to pray for you.”
Seth was up to bat when he called over to me, “Mom! Who was that saint?” I told him and when he came up to the plate he had this big grin on his face. He (what I would call…in my ignorant, lack of baseball knowledge, way) ‘pinged’ it! I like that noise, ‘PING’ when he slammed the ball…it went way out there!!!! He go to run all the way to second (they had a good outfielder. 🙂 ) but that’s the best he’s done so far! And he got the point in that won them the game! 🙂 Yeah!
I have to laugh at myself because I don’t necessarily like the game…it is s l o w. But to see my child gain some self confidence and esteem, now THAT is worth watching!
I hate to keep writing about my son’s kid pitch baseball games…honestly the rest of the day was a great day spent in Mass and then with a good friend. Neal is in a good mood and all in our world is getting ‘right’ again. I can’t complain, I am blessed.
I pray the same for you and your family.
Blessings
Shannon
