Today God gave me confirmation of the path I’m on and the platform He’s set before me in order to help stop the cycle of abuse.
I had two, not one, but TWO conversations today with survivors of abuse. I refuse to call them victims as that connotation literally encloses the individual into a tomb of self-doubt, unworth, guilt and anger. No, when you become a SURVIVOR you let the world know (especially the perpetrator) that you are not surrendering to these dark evil sufficaters.
So here’s the deal. What gets me fightin’ mad, I mean boilin’ Neal on roids raging angry, is the way in which the enemy doups the survivor into remaining a victim. You see, it is hard to understand why these things happen especially to the one it’s been done to. And sometimes we have to live in the question and trust in the fact that God loves us and it is the enemy that rules over these evil things. Ah, but you see, when this is done to us we falter on that trust. We falter because the enemy took advantage of what was once pure and taints it. He taints the relationship that is usually founded in trust.
What’s worse is once the victim is crying out and wanting to become a survivor the enemy is never thought of…it somehow always comes back to God. Why did God allow this? I can’t trust God. God doesn’t love me or find me worthy.
NO NO NO NO NO!!!! 🙁
See, that’s part of the lies. That’s a cold, shriveled hand of the enemy trying to keep you in the pit. To become a survivor it’s about FIGHTING BACK and recognizing you need to live in the HERE and NOW and fight with all you have to make it back to the path that God has laid before you. The enemy will grip you with fear but fear is not of God. Fear paralyzes you so you can’t move because he wants you to stay off the path.
Let me give you my favorite Bible passage (which I’m sure I’ve given before and will give again as the year progresses):
Ephesians 5:6-14
There you go! EXPOSE them!! Okay, you don’t have to expose them to the world like I am but expose them to a counselor, a husband, a wife, a dear friend, but get them out and then find the help you need to become a true SURVIVOR!!!
GET FIGHTIN MAD!!!!
🙂
Whew…okay I feel better.
Blessings
