Today was filled with many interruptions within my typical work routine. I realize, however, working for a church lends for this to happen often and I also recognize that it probably lends for an easier opportunity for me to recognize when God is showing up, or when I need to be the one to accept the call.
I was pondering on this fact this afternoon. All aspects of my day are filled in ministry and if I’m doing my job correctly then I am often in prayer or leading others to a deeper relationship with God. Granted, my day can get muddled with the mundane paperwork and deadlines but still the acknowledgment of faith is all around me.
Which is why my heart is filled to the brink of overflowing at this very moment for the new set of participants of our Catholics Returning Home group. The majority of the class is male and above 45, most with grandchildren or at least grown children and no real reason to attend the class except to confide they felt a sudden interest to reconnect. What endears me to them even more is that they were not coerced. They are ‘showing up’ and listening to the call.
It is never too late to connect or even reconnect with God. God never budges, He is constant. We are the ones that branch out, up, in many directions…but if we take time to be still we will hear Him calling us home in the recesses of our very being.
Please pray for the Catholics Returning Home sessions for the next 6 weeks.
Blessings
Shannon
