If you ever wondered where the term grubby fingers came from, well sit down with a bunch of Louisiana folk with a tray full of creepy crawlers (AKA: Crawfish) and dig in.  First you crack the tiny claws and suck whatever little morsel of meat that can possibly be found, then you push the tail into the head then pull it out and the meat from the tail magically appears (along with a nasty string of what I would call poop but someone tried educate me and say it was a blood vessel) and viola – dinner.  But in order to get a decent meal you have to crack into at least 50 of these buggers to get full.  In the end you are left with some grubby fingers. 🙂  And a full belly!

This is how the day ended and I’m dead beat!  Before the crawfish boil we had the entire baseball team over for their team party.  The team we had this year was amazing and I know in many ways it was due to the coach.  He is a Godly man and as he handed out the 2nd place trophies to the kids he told them this (I’m paraphrasing) “Even though we didn’t go as far as we wanted in the tournament we had a great season.  It’s okay to be upset when we lose but in the end we need to remember that it is God that is in control.  He knows that maybe someone else on another team might need the victory.”

Like I said, I paraphrased what he said because he said so much more that was wonderful for these young minds to hear.  But he is so right, we are all special to God and we have to trust that He knows best to whom might need the boost of victory.  We were so blessed to have had him and the team this season.

Finally, just as I was writing this I received and encouraging text from Neal’s cousin in Ohio.  She read my book in a day! (wow) and I had some really nice things to say.  She gave me the ‘boost’ I needed. 😉

Thank you God!

Blessings
