Today had a theme of ‘catching up’ with good friends and family. I had no idea my nephew and niece were in town from their 3 month mission in Pakistan. Out of the blue I thought about catching a bite for lunch and taking to my in-laws (I never go to my in-laws out of the blue!) and there was my nephew! I had a great 2 hour visit with him and got to hear all about the Pakistan traditions and way of living. He is this amazing young man who is learning to leave the comfort of our ‘rich’ American lifestyle to be a face of Christ to Muslims in Pakistan. I am so proud of him and Josh and his wife Ashley! Pray for them as they are back in the states to ‘train’ more in order to go back and live for a longer period of time.
Later I was able to meet with a dear friend of mine that has been preparing to become a Carmelite third order (the layman group for the Carmelite Convent). We had an amazing time talking and catching up for 2 hours.
THEN I had the great gift of receiving a phone call as soon as I walked in the door from a dear friend that has been juggling two sick parents in separate hospitals. It was nice to be an ear for one another and a shoulder to lean on.
All in all, in lieu of recent events especially with Joseph Stanton, I see that God gives many opportunities to make sure we make ourselves available for those we love and even those He wants us to know and love.
It was a change of pace to not keep my phone with me…to slow down and just ‘be’ with my friends…and to allow the love soak in.
Thank you God!
Blessings
