The greatest message I received today is that I have the most loyal friendships that only God can ordain. I am so thankful. I could elaborate but my loyalty is to keep some things near and dear (despite my open book policy) in an effort to at least respect others privacy.
Another reminder that I was given today was to always be open to who God is calling you to meet, and what He might be asking you to say. I met someone new today, a parent of a new student in Ryan’s class. She has only been here 3 weeks and being that she didn’t know me at all (God bless her) she wanted to stay at my house while all the 6th grade kids were attending Ryan’s class swim party. I knew all the other parents would drop and run but I had nothing going except to watch these kids and so I was happy to have the company. I was smart in planning this party because I had 3 high school juniors that are involved in our youth group and happen to be on the middle school leadership team come help me with the kids. Two of the three were life guards this summer which meant I could watch from ‘behind the scenes’ without cramping my son’s style. 😉
The high school kids wore those 6th graders out! They were having so much fun doing all kinds of games and swim activities. Man, they were a HUGE blessing. And while that was going on the new mom and I found that we had TONS in common.
I’ve come to realize when these introductions happen and so much is ‘in common’ then that means there must be some other underlying ‘work’ needed to be done on some level (for both parties). It’s like entering into a new adventure. 🙂
Now I am exhausted and would just like to have a full 8 hours of sleep. Now that would be an added bonus.
Blessings
Shannon
