This was the first weekend I’ve been home and not had anywhere else to go in almost 8 weeks.  If I haven’t been working then we’ve been together as a family (or Neal and I together as a couple) but we have fallen short of spending time with friends.   Our friendships mean a lot to Neal and I so we both agreed that we needed to use the house God gave us to gather everyone together.

From 6 months to 50 years (and no I won’t say who was 50) the ages ranged.  We ate, we drank, we laughed and enjoyed the reprieve in the hot weather, and we had the LSU game going.  It was a great time, relaxing, no pressure to impress and there was no thinking about any of the stresses that have us tied up in knots during the week.

This is what we were made for, this community way of life.  Like a school of fish or flock of birds, we are wired to find comfort and peace when we come together on common ground.  If I consider how God showed up today, he showed up within every single person that came to my house.

He also showed up in an email I received first thing this morning from the priest that co-founded the Maria Goretti Network.  He had just finished my book and gave me  a validation I didn’t realize I was needed until I read it.  In fact, he thanked me for writing the book.  And he validated the spiritual warfare.  I read the email four times throughout the day before I could respond because his response to me was so moving.  I kept thinking, “Wow, a priest wrote this to me.”

Praise God for this relaxing day.

Blessings
