This morning I had the privilege of sitting with one of my friends who has recently come through a journey of intense healing. She is an amazing speaker and it is clear that God is preparing her to go deeper and further in being a voice for Him in the journey we must all take in healing. It is clear that at times it takes a year or two, or even three to get ‘prepared’ with the tools and strength it takes to overcome a lifetime of wounds (and sometimes generational wounds) but what we know to be fact (from both having lived through this process) is that we are never to remain in our wounds…just like any wound that heals, it goes through the process of becoming a scab, a faint scar, and if given the proper care then barely noticeable. To be a survivor we must find that strength in Christ to get out of the wound.
We didn’t spend all day getting so ‘deep’ but it is nice to be able to be there for one another. We ended up getting ready and going into Galveston to the shops on the Strand. We ate gumbo and walked the streets. We rode the ferry and delighted in seeing the dolphins. And we ended the day at the beach, reading about other peoples lives and discussing how awesome it would be to have an opportunity to sit and talk with some of these 20-somethings that can’t seem to keep themselves out of jail.
Before we picked up to leave the rolling waves and salty breeze, I stood up and walked the shoreline, saying a prayer to God, thanking Him for His vastness and willingness to love. I also said a prayer to Mary, the Blessed Mother to thank her for her ‘yes’.
We went back to the house and put together our hodge podge of stuff we’d bought for the weekend for dinner so nothing went to waste and spent the rest of the evening discussing our ‘earlier’ days and the mistakes we’d made…what we’d say to ourselves if we had the chance.
Ultimately we decided it just isn’t easy. No matter what year it is or how old you are, or what the topic is. Which is why today’s meditation is so key, “Just believe in ME…do not worry about anything. Do not let anyone or anything allow you to lose sight of Me.”
Remain in Me and I will bring you Life Eternal.
Blessings
Shannon
