On this crisp, deliciously cool morning I set out in prayer to make sure I made use of every minute in the day.  In Mass I asked God to keep me alert to Him as the day unfolded and I thanked him for the countless ways in which He blesses me through family, friends, the weather, and even random thoughts and emotions.

Just before I was to meet with a young woman for a lunch meeting she canceled which left me with an hour, maybe even two, that gave me freedom to catch up on those ‘little to do’s’ that seem to pile up and then overwhelm.  After running one errand that was to take 15 minutes but took nearly an hour, and then finally getting home to grab a quick bite, pay the pile of bills on my desk and then get started on the piled up ‘to-do’ list I realized it was already time to get the kids.

If you have kids you know that, God Bless them, but they are the reason the simple ‘to-do’ list gets so piled up.  It isn’t easy to concentrate when you have a child asking you a thousand questions (most of the same one)  and standing at your side. So I gave up on my ‘to do’ list and I’ve decided to let it go, for now.  I’ll try to get more done tomorrow before the day gets going with meetings.

Instead I redirected my efforts solely to the kids as we had the evening to ourselves with Neal working late again.  Seth happened to win the Wonderful Wednesday award today for being responsible – so I decided to go against my normal grain and took them out to Joe’s Crab Shack to redeem his certificate.  They were both very excited to go out for dinner and to have me alone.  During dinner (as I was covered in spices and butter from cracking crab legs) Seth had a huge smile on his face and said, “Now this is quality family time!”.

Yes, quality family time.  On the way home I thought about the ‘to do’ list and I felt God whisper “It’ll get done…this is your job right now.  The rest will come in time.  Trust in MY timing.”

There will never be enough time in a day but then that isn’t relevant if we are fully relying on His promises.

Blessings
