To all the men who might read my blog… WARNING… I’m spending the weekend in Austin, Texas with two great women and it’s ALL ABOUT the wonder of EMOTIONS and FEELINGS and SHARING.  🙂

But I must begin with the crazy way the day began.  On Friday mornings I meet God one on one in adoration at 4am in the chapel.  When I showed up I was greeted by the couple that has the same hour as I do and they informed me that there was a young adult sleeping in the confessional.  Concerned for the young man I opened the confessional door and sure enough, there he was, face down, his white tennis shoes lined up neatly beside him.  I reached over to turn on the light in order to see his face and when I did he JUMPED up in surprise nearly causing me to leave a surprise!! (if you know what I mean ;))  Instantly I felt for this poor young man.  I didn’t get any ‘uneasy’ feelings and despite the stench of stale smoke it was obvious he was simply down and out.  He told me he had a meeting with one of our deacons, gave the name which signified he at least had been to the church for help, and said he was supposed to have been picked up but a young man who never showed.  An evening rain was still pouring in so I knew the last thing I wanted to do was send him out in the cold wet weather.  I just smiled and told him to go back to sleep.  The rest of the hour was peaceful…but I ask that you pray for that young man.  I didn’t get to hear what happened before I left for Austin.

So, here I am with my girlfriends, enjoying some R & R…spoiled…yes I know. 😉  But one thing I’ve already learned today, that God made women equipped with with an internal strength I’m not sure a man could understand.  I’ve said it in other entries before, we are to LIFT one another up…and it is with this strength in listening, supporting, admonishing with love and validating that we support the best.

Now we are off to dinner and a midnight performance (music…come on now!!!)… if I can show up just by my actions tonight then let it be.  Thank you God for this time and keep my kids and husband safe!!! Because you know it’s all about the MEN at the Deitz house this weekend….that would be their OWN blog…augh!

Blessings

Shannon
