“The cup was filled with water and it was sitting on the table. We had been out of the kitchen for awhile and then we heard some noise and we looked in the kitchen and saw that the glass had fallen over on and the water had spilled all over the table. I cleaned it up and put it in the sink. When I left the kitchen we walked into the living room and then saw the same cup we’d left in the sink on the floor leading into the hallway. We had just left it in the sink!”
This and other accounts came from the 13 yr old girl who lived in the home we went to bless today. I’ll tell you right away, I did not feel anything ominous in the house (and, again, if you don’t already know this about me I tend to have a gift of feeling when something just isn’t right, which is why the priest asked me to come along.) Once we began to talk to the family and especially the young lady that is the one that has experienced the ‘paranormal’ the most, it was easy to recognize the biggest problem in the house was that even though they were Catholic they had not been making the most of their Baptismal call. I know that often the ‘enemy’ has many tactics to try and pull us away from God and off our path, and sometimes these tactics involve any way that he can instill fear within but the only way that the enemy can succeed is if you invite him in. If you recognize that his tactics are nothing but cheap tricks and turn to God then God will take the situation that those tactics have left behind and turn the fear around to draw you closer to Him. This young woman today was reconnected with God, invited to give her confession which she hadn’t thought about ever and her girlfriend was able to hear about the saving grace of Christ (her family has no religious affiliation and she had never heard of Baptism)…through this ‘situation’ she got to hear about being connected to God!! She asked many questions and suddenly this situation turned around.
Later this afternoon I met with a young man who wanted to talk about faith and he just wanted to hear about my relationship with God because he is in a place where he is trying to figure out where he stands with God. It all came down to recognizing that we ALL have a ‘call’.
Then in mass tonight the readings and the Gospel were all about hearing His call and accepting it vocally, acknowledging and telling Him, ‘Here I am Lord, your servant is listening.’ I just LOVE that God gives me themes for each day and today it was about His summoning us to Him. There was a song sung tonight that ‘summed’ it all up for me…I became lost in the words and I wanted to share it with you:
Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known, will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
…
I want to write the rest but my husband is getting onto me because we have a date night tonight. I’ll write the entire song on a separate blog either tonight or tomorrow morning. But it’s GOOD.
He is summoning…
Blessings
