Today was drama free!   At least the big drama.  The day began with me picking up soggy discarded trash that was strewn about our back yard compliments of Bailey and Rocky.  Seriously, those two are so close to checking out of Deitz paradise.  Yesterday we had to have a pool guy come look at our cracked pump (ugh, I won’t even get into all of that) but the guy didn’t know Bailey was in the back yard…well, if you saw the pictures of her going through the glass door then I’m sure you can visualize what she’d try to do to a stranger without a barrier!  Neal said the poor guy called him in a sheer panic and Bailey could be heard in the background snarling and desperate to get at him.  The man had grabbed a patio chair and was jousting with Bailey.  Neal gave him a few commands but they were to no avail.  Finally, Neal thought of the gate he could back into and skip out of, which is how he got away.

Oh Bailey Bailey Bailey…at least she’s a good watch dog.  🙂

Other than the daily Bailey drama today was blissfully dull.

What is great about today is that it is St. Bernadette of Lourdes Feast Day.  She has been instrumental in my formation.  Sounds odd, I know, but I first came across her when Cardinal DiNardo quoted her as saying:

My job is just to give you the message; it is up to you whether you believe it or not.

This statement struck a cord of validation and understanding so I began to look up more about who she was and how God worked in her life.  Soon I became enamored with her and would pray to her for intercessory prayer for a gift of boldness in the ministry.  There have been many instances that she has made it known that she is a prayer warrior for me in heaven.  Below is a picture of her body that did not decompose when she died in the late 1800’s.

Prayer to St. Bernadette

O God, protector and lover of the humble, You bestowed on your servant, Bernadette, the favor of the vision of Our Lady, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, and of speech with Her.  Grant that we may deserve to behold You in Heaven.

Saint Bernadette through your intercession give me the grace of praying in the occasions of sin. Grant me a holy recollection, the grace of being aware of Mary’s holy presence, and the virtue of silence. Grant me from God the holy virtue of spiritual and bodily purity; as well as purity of conscience through humble, frequent, and sincere confession, for the greater glory of God. Obtain for me a heroic faith along with a loving-filled confidence in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

God our Father, you give joy to the world by the resurrection of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the prayers of His Mother, the Virgin Mary, bring us to the happiness of eternal life. We ask this through Saint Bernadette and with the intercession of the Twin Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Amen.

Blessings

Shannon
