At this very moment 5 young professionals (btw ages 21-23) are sitting on my couches as I’m typing this (they don’t even realize I’m typing this… I’m not being rude, they are in their own conversation, using my house as a place to continue to safely talk about God and their faith life).
You see it began earlier this evening when that young man I wrote about a week ago that had called in high desperation showed up at the young professional family dinner at my house tonight. When he walked in the door he proceeded to explain to all of us in attendance that a ‘series of unfortunate events’ had happened in his life just these past few days. What is interesting about these events is that they have given him a ‘clean slate’. Now is the time for him to make that choice to either go with God or continue to make choices based on the wants of the world.
Being that we do ‘highs and lows’ at these dinners (where each person gets to say what their high and low has been since we’ve seen each other last) the conversation became intense about God’s direction in our life. Ultimately, it is now almost 10pm and they’ve been discussing how fear keeps us from God and all those different aspects of fear for almost 3 hours.
I will say they do ‘get it’…that our spirits will always, and have always, longed for God and His will in our life…and it is the worldly desires that are achieved outside of God’s will that trip us up and get us off track. It truly warms my heart to listen to them (and interject, don’t worry I am listening) and to realize how much further ahead they are than I was when I was their age. I just pray that they take what they are discussing tonight and put it to action.
Pray for them…they are our future.
Blessings
