Tonight I shared some fabulous conversation with some of the women from the Catholics Returning Home group that finished up this evening. We joined together over a glass of wine to get to know one another better and to sort of rehash what the last six weeks of classes meant for us personally.
Six weeks isn’t a long time and it certainly isn’t enough time to break open the mystery of faith, let alone divulge the why’s and why not’s of the Catholic faith, but it gave enough to either spark the initiative to ‘come home’ or to at least begin the process of discernment on where their religious home is meant to be.
A few questions and disagreements remain after this six week period but then again their understanding will come in His time as they allow it to be revealed to them. Sometimes we are more consumed with hurt and pain and vindication or legalism that we can’t get beyond that hurtle to see the direction God is asking us to go. But God doesn’t want us to jump from one point to the next without stepping foot in the muck in between. Otherwise we’d never learn from the experience, never mature from the pain and learn to look beyond ourselves in situations to fully embrace His greatest commandment “Love one another as I have loved you.”
Before I went to Catholics Returning Home tonight my husband and I were discussing what might befall us again next month in regards to his company and the financial situation that leaves for questioning… I keep saying to myself (and to God) I put it in Your hands. We are learning from this. We should have been more prepared. I trust you will take care of us. And sure enough literally 5 minutes after our conversation I received a check of reimbursement in the mail that helps out a great deal! I don’t know, it might be small to you, but to me it was God showing up in a BIG way. And it will be in His time…I do have that faith.
It was a good day. One that had a great lesson embedded in every corner. I just wish I knew what the lesson was when I went to put the trash in the trash can out back and found that ROCKY & BAILEY had gotten into the trash yet AGAIN…it was strewn all over the back yard!!!! Is the lesson that I need to get rid of those dogs???? Or is it that I need to wake up and put the trash cans in the garage where they can’t get to them?
Anyone looking to own two labs? 🙂
Blessings
