Yes, that’s right…Chicken ‘poo’ Bingo (or you could use the more vulgar term!)
For the next three days I am on a road trip in Austin with my boys and my go0d friend, Lindsay. We are trying to accomplish some of the items on the Bucket List for Texas ( a featured article in the March issue of Texas Monthly). #1 was visiting Ginny’s Longhorn Saloon on a Sunday afternoon beginning at 4pm to play Chicken Poo Bingo.
When we arrived we thought we were mistaken at first because the front of the saloon is small and it didn’t seem it could hold very many. Once we made it inside (after I made certain it was OK for the kids to be in the saloon) we laid eyes on the ‘game board’.

There was a band playing country tune, more of a cross between old-school country and Cajun Zydeco. We waited patiently for about an hour before the tickets were sold. There are 54 squares on the board, numbered 1-54 and they sell 54 tickets for $2 a piece and you are only allowed to buy one ticket per person. The ‘winner’ of the number that ‘Ginny’ the chicken poops on wins the pot – $108. They do this 3 times during the evening.
We lucked out because we ended up right in front row! We purchased our tickets and each received numbers – 7, 34, 9, and 54.

I don’t know what I was expecting, but not something so ‘mushy’. 🙂
Once she did her business the saloon cleared like someone set a bomb! Oh wait…she did!
Magnolia Cafe was our next stop for an ‘interesting’ meal…not quite what I thought a cafe would be but the food was fresh and decent. After dinner we went for a walk down to Lady Bird Lake where there was a swarm of runners, men fishing on piers and families gathering for a leisurely stroll at the end of a gorgeous weekend.

Psalm 118:24
This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice in it and be glad.
Today we went with whatever was to come. We had no major agenda except to experience something new. We are enjoying one another, laughing, smiling and taking time off from whatever it is that holds stress for us at home. I wish Neal could be with us but he’s probably enjoying doing whatever he wants at home!
I’m enjoying my children and thanking God for this opportunity!
Blessings
Shannon
