Perusing the internet searching through the HauteLook.com and Rue La La.com sites (some of my favorite discounted home and fashion sites) I came upon a sale on painted sayings and quotes.  I had just been telling Neal after four years of living in this house I needed to do something with the walls in the game room.  This particular boutique through Rue La La had dozens upon dozens of signs with some cute and some inspiring sayings.

As I was reading through what they offered I began to picture them through my son’s eyes.  They’ll be hanging in the game room, where they play video games, watch movies and when friends come over this is where they all converge.  I imagined Ryan and Seth reading them over and over again until they become a set fixture on the wall until they go away for awhile and come back to find themselves reading it again and feeling that sense of peace and comfort because it is familiar and their home.

I can’t find them on pinterest right now to show you what I chose but it made me think of some magnets I’ve had hanging on my refrigerator door.  I found them not long after we moved into this house and when I read through the dozens of sayings I found myself having the same intention behind picking them – “What will my kids read when they open the refrigerator door…and what do I want them to remember on a daily basis?”

These are the two that I settled on out of the handful I considered.  I knew if I got too many they would be ignored.

I realize after reading the sayings I picked for the game room and then re-reading what I had picked for the refrigerator almost four years ago that the message I long for them to read and digest is the very message I know I need to chew on every day.  This is what they say:

Winstin Churchill

Kristin Armstrong

These magnets had become a part of the backdrop to the frig.  I’d forgotten how much it had to say. 😉

Today I chose to focus on ‘stop rushing’…. what speaks to you?

Blessings
