There are moments when you don’t have the energy, desire, or will to do something that your loved ones want you to do but you find it in you to do it for them. For the love.
It’s been a long time since I’ve baked. I actually enjoy baking and when the boys were young it used to be something I’d do with them to have some fun and pass the time. During the holidays my mother in law has always suggested we take a day to bake goodies for parties we have to go to and such. But I always found an excuse not to spend an entire day baking.
I don’t know if it is because it’s been a crazy, emotional and growing year but I decided to make an extra effort to take an entire day and bake. She was so excited and we both had our recipes planned. We had The Christmas Story on TV and I made Ryan and Seth join us.
‘Made’ is the key word. They aren’t little anymore and in many ways they came to appease us. For the love. They helped a bit but after a few hours the patience wore off, the movie was over and they were done. But we still had a good time.
It was a few hours we won’t get back and a few hours that we spent laughing, talking and loving.
Tonight Seth and I are going to see a late movie. He’s asked me many times to take him to see a movie at night ( we always tend to go to the matinee). Today he asked again and even though I’m tired and comfy wrapped in a blanket on our couch I know that it will be a memory for him. Plus, he’s good at the guilt trip and said, “Come in, Mom, it can be a mother/son bonding moment.”
All right, all right. 😀 For the love, right?
Don’t forget, these ‘moments’ you can’t get back.
Blessings
