It is ‘normal’ to see feature stories on the news about humanitarian things to be thankful for and a thousand different ways to cook a turkey or bake a pie.  Being it’s the day before Thanksgiving bloggers will publish a thousand varying creative articles on the art of being thankful.  However, for me I am suffering writer’s block.  My apologies for the lack of posts this week.  God has revealed himself in many ways and I am growing leaps in bounds in an understanding of many aspects within my daily life.  Yet I have not been ‘inspired’ to whip them up into a clever montage.  It is a particular attack, one that I recognize and one that I am praying through. 😉

One blessing I will share is the fact that I have my 14 year old niece visiting this week.  It was a last minute decision and one that I believe God orchestrated for various reasons.  My parents celebrated their 40th Anniversary last weekend.  I was there with my older sister and younger sister but we did not have my brother join us.  This is a sad topic in my family at the moment which is probably why I’m not inclined to write about it but the blessing is his daughter is with us visiting.  If I can be God’s light this week upon this unfortunate situation that has maimed our family then I am showing up, if anything for her.  Despite the gaping hole in our family the party that was thrown in my parents honor was a success and I believe the event helped rejuvenate younger struggling marriages.

Another blessing is the Maria Goretti Network, specifically the chapter that we have begun at St. Martha’s.  My passion is to help others live as survivors so I went into this believing I was there to help others… little did I know God was still working on me in regards to some walls I still have built up that affect my marriage.  Attending this group validates not only the great need for a support group for survivors of abuse but God is validating a few things I need to recognize and work on, especially now that I am writing about the trials and tribulations of marriage especially if one party is a survivor of abuse.

Every sappy story on counting our blessings is true.  There is not an article long enough to give a list of what there is to be thankful for.  Thank YOU for your support and responses to the articles I’ve written and it is my prayers that you and your family receive the gift of Christ’s love and peace on this Thanksgiving holiday.

Blessings

Shannon

PS… If you read the ‘Demon busting/  Heart Healing’ blog then you might want to go back and read the comment left by the young woman we helped.  What a great testiment to God’s love!
