Hallo Allerseits!  (Hello everybody!)

I made the trip across the pond and I am safely in Hamburg, Germany at my friend’s home.  Currently our time is 4:33pm and I believe it is 9:33am Texas time.  The flight was uneventful…I sat in what I call the ‘po man’s’ section but lucked out because not many of us were inhabiting the no mans land so I had a bit of leg room.

I dawned on my slippers and settled down to integrate myself to the time change which meant I needed to fall asleep within a few hours of the flight.  International flights give wine for FREE so I couldn’t pass that up…who passes up a free glass of wine? 😉

Thankfully my eyes were drooping just after the mystery meat was served for dinner so I settled back for a nice long sleep.

NOT.

Sleep just doesn’t happen on these flights.  Not for me.  I think I managed an hour here or there but I tried every position available.  I was a contortionist trying to fit my body in two airplane seats.

When I got off the plane in Frankfurt for my last connection I was starving and all I could see was BREAD!  This wouldn’t be an issue if I didn’t give it up for Lent.  Wait, didn’t Fr. Earthman say this is ‘My Lent’?  🙂

Therefore I walked on by….

Finally I made it to Hamburg and it is so good to see my friend again and her family.  Much of my luggage contained this sweet 6 yr old birthday presents.  She was anxious to get them and now she is standing behind me asking, “When are you  going to be done so we can play?”

This is the same little girl that told me two seconds ago that I looked pregnant…so now she is also patting my belly telling me that it’s getting better when I sit up straight.  🙂  I am laughing, don’t worry, there is truth to her statement!  I love how children just tell it like it is!!

It has been a long day but it has been nice to sit with my friend and lunch like we used to only this time we had to ‘guess’ at what we ordering…I am proud of my friend and her ability to read German.  We almost got liver! 🙂  Thankfully we asked first.

Enjoy the rest of your day and we’ll see what adventure lies in store for me tomorrow.  I’m lagging some jets right now so I pray to keep my eyes open a few more hours.

Servus! (Goodbye!)

Blessings

Shannon
