When I woke up today I had all these plans to work on the devotional I’m putting together and get some more writing done in Redeemed but I gave the day to God and he had other things in mind. Most of which included receiving a generous donation to Hopeful Hearts for the charm.

Hopeful Hearts Ministry will celebrate a year on January 25th and I am still dumfounded by the way in which God has implemented the ministry and continues to push it forward.  Though I ‘founded’ it and with the help of my board I ‘run’ the ministry…most of the time I feel like I’m a bystander looking on as God continues to make things happen regardless of what I ‘do’. 🙂

Sitting at a table in Zammitti’s near the large picture window overlooking Lake Houston I opened the envelope that would contain the final check of the funds raised over the Christmas break.  Jennifer Moore, owner of Jennika’s, put it upon herself to make wine cork ornaments and sell them at her store with all of the proceeds benefitting Hopeful Hearts!

Me with Eddie (manager of Zimmittis) and Jennifer (owner of Jennika's) at Zimmittis. Two of the kindest people I know!

Eddie, the manager of Zammittis also at King’s Harbor, helped save the corks to make the ornaments and kept the ornaments on display which helped tremendously.  Customers from all over the area were more than generous and with their donations we raised a total of $664! Add that to the $210 that came in over the last few weeks and we’ve already raised $874 to go towards making the charms.

I find out tomorrow a better idea of how much the total cost will be but it is a relief to know that this project is backed by so many giving souls.  The sour taste I had in my mouth from yesterday’s unfortunate situation and frustration was washed away from today’s showing that many giving and helpful hands make lighter work. 😉

I love that this charm that is a symbol of strength, worth and hope to survivors of abuse will exist because of a collaboration of the love and generosity of our collective community.

Definitely the brightest moment of this rainy day! 🙂

Blessings

If you are in the Kingwood area I highly suggest heading to the King’s Harbor area and have lunch or dinner at Zammitti’s Italian Ristorante and then go shopping over at Jennika’s.  You won’t be disappointed!
