Choose the road less traveled. This was the first message I received this morning after a 6 mile run in 39 degree weather. Had I read this before I might have said I’d choose a different shorter route. 😉
In all seriousness the Lenten Devotional hit a mark with me as it made the point that all of the people in the world that have been recognized as ‘leaders’ in their fields and who’ve impacted the world in a positive way chose the road less traveled. This spoke to me because I think empowering those who have been silenced by abuse to speak and use their voice is the new road and it’s exciting. 😀
Family comes first. This was the second message given to me today. Professional and personal deadlines are nipping at my heels and today was to be the day that I’d get it all accomplished, however, after leaving the dentist office I received a phone call. It was the school. Before I could say ‘Hello?’ I turned my car around and headed in the direction of the school. Sure enough it was Ryan struggling with his allergies. The poor kid. Allergies are kicking his booty this season. He was miserable and wanted to leave so we headed home…then he began to stress about missing school so I pulled into a CVS and asked for the strongest non-prescription I could buy to help him out. An hour later he was back at school.
My ‘to do deadline’ list was already pushed to after the lunch date I had with a friend who I’d consider like family. Because we have not caught up on one another’s life in almost two months, and we were sitting outside in 75 degree weather with the sun kissing our faces, we didn’t push back from the table till 2pm! One hour left before getting the boys and ensuing chaos that the afternoon brings.
One moment at a time. This was the final message I received on this gorgeous Valentine’s Day. With everything else that kept interrupting my ‘plan’ to get done what I thought was important I realized I was going against my recent motto of taking one moment at a time, letting God’s timing to lead the day. I almost failed to trust that though I have things that need to be done it’s a matter of prioritizing and discerning God’s will.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone! Love your family.
Blessings
