Some would argue that life is not a matter of milestones but of moments.  There is truth in this statement, however, when you are a parent who has struggled in one way or another with your child in helping them to succeed in advancing critical milestones then sometimes the achievement is the sweetness wrapped within the moment of victory.

Saturday marks the milestone of Ryan graduating from the 8th grade.  I’m certain on that day as we celebrate and watch the video of pictures of our children from infant to present the tears will flow and my tongue will taste the bittersweet moment of nostalgia.  But today the school had a traditional school farewell for the class and this was a time to sit with pride and reread the words of the letter from my son and silently praise God we made it this far.

You’ve brought me up as a proud Catholic and you’ve taught me how to live.  You’ve pushed through my challenges and have helped me to cope with them.  …  Thank you most of all for bringing God into my life.”  Love Ryan

My greatest prayer for my children is not to be successful or to overcome their ‘challenges’ rather, my greatest prayer for them is this: ‘Lord, I pray my boys always have a will to love you, serve you and desire to be in relationship with you.’  If this prayer is answered then they will be successful and overcome every challenge that comes because they will walk through it with God.

Ryan receiving his 'Most Likely To' Award...it is most likely to start up a Media Production company and then about 8 other classmates were 'most likely to' work for Ryan. ;)

The school singing a song to the 8th graders 'Friends a Friend Forever'....funny...this was the same song we sang to each other in 1991 when I graduated high school. Still a great song but just saying, maybe someone should write a new one??

Today marked a great milestone for us as parents and Ryan as a young man.  We still have highschool to conquer so you know where I’ll be… on my knees praying! 😉

It is the moments we need to cherish but God gives us the milestones to see Him at work.  Don’t take either for granted.

Blessings
