Happy New Year to everyone! Even after falling into bed at 2:30am I was up and making breakfast at 9am and attended Mass at 11am.
This year I wanted to make certain I began in unity with God. I’ve always began each day with a greeting to God but lately that’s about all I could muster. For me, marking the new year meant also getting on without the excuses of what’s held me back from growing in my relationship with God.
Sitting among my church community was exactly what I needed to remind me that it is not only by my own strength and stability that gets me through the troubled times…it is with the prayers, encouragement, support and love of those around me that is Christ’s light to my path.
Hearing this blessing read for the first reading brought tears to my eyes. I read it again for the women who came to the Year in Reflection party at my house. Keeping this blessing close to for every person I meet is going to be a key for the benefit of 2014.
Therefore, I offer it up for you. May The Lord shine his face upon you all the days of your life.
Blessings
Shannon
