I’ve written and re-written a post trying to depict the emotions of the weekend. Obviously I’ve decided to trash every version possible because people have put their trust in me and I would hate to write something that could break the trust. However, I will say this – it was one emotionally heavy weekend. The gamut of situations I was entrusted with people who ranged from age 11 to 35 years over the course of Friday, Saturday and Sunday left me with a heavy heart and a lot to pray about.
The Maria Goretti Network is off the ground at St. Martha’s in Kingwood (and no, not every situation I dealt with this weekend linked to MGN…but many correlated) and we have some prospects of a few other parishes with interest to begin their own chapter within the Archdiocese so please keep the growth of MGN in your prayers as well. The response from those who attended the MGN open house Friday night was validating to the need of the chapter in every parish across the US. The confirmation of those that chose to speak out in the meeting and acknowledged the desire to want to talk about what they had been through with others who would understand without explanation was reward for our efforts.
Even though the emotional rollercoaster I experienced over the weekend was exhausting there were little moments of excitement as well. You may notice that I have a new ‘sticker’ on my Home Page that says “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading” Finalist. I was notified that I have been selected out of hundreds of interviews done by The Author Show.com to go up for a vote to be one of 50 authors selected in their 2011 Edition of ’50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading”. The voting begins October 1st at this link: contest Voting ends October 8th.
Another nice surprise over the weekend was being notified by Anna Deskins a mommy blogger and author of “The Adventures of Smitty” that she has posted an interview she did with me on her blog, it can be found here: Interview
Tomorrow I go to Dallas to do a video interview for a new author book site called BEEK.com. On the site you can look up books and read the first two chapters of the book as well as click on certains places within the chapter to see an interview by the author explaining more about the book, the background of the story, etc. I’m excited to see how this process works!
Finally, tomorrow one of my past blog entries will be featured on CatholicExchange.com. Check it out as well. 🙂
Maybe once I get back from Dallas my mind will be clear, heart not as heavy, and I’ll be able to decipher the multitude of messages that seem to come at us throughout any given day but sometimes it’s just hard to catch them all. 😉
Blessings
Shannon
