Years ago I posted a letter from God called ON HIS PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE and I continue to ‘feature’ it in on my Home webpage. It was written by ‘Anonymous’ so I am unable to give credit where credit is due. I found the letter in 1993 when I was going through the devastating legal battle after the second rape. I had turned my life around, began focusing solely on school and turned away from dating. It had been almost a year since the rape happened and the desire to know love emerged but fear kept it at bay. Then I found the letter. Not long after I met Neal and the rest is history. 🙂 Then the letter resurfaced about 5 years ago at one of the youth retreats. One of the chaperones brought it to share with the teens and as she read it my skin prickled with recognition. A few months later one of the young women present that day passed away in a car accident and her mom gave me the copy of the letter she found taped to the young woman’s mirror. I knew I needed to share it that summer at the conferences and naturally it was widely received as it is a message every young man and woman need to hear.
If you’d like to read the original letter you can click here.
It’s been almost 20 years since I first found the letter and I realize that though the message is timeless there is another message within it that calls out to me in my present circumstance. I know love. I know His love and I know the love of my husband and my children. What I struggle with now is the desire to be satisfied. Satisfied as a mother, wife and writer. I have dreams I would love to fulfill and goals I want to see achieved. However, at times it seems they are so out of reach I’m a fool for trying.
This morning I meditated on aligning the desires of my heart with his will. I know, without a doubt, what God has planned for me is bigger, better, more satisfying than any dream, desire or goal I could create for myself. I also know that if I try to rush the process the end result will fizzle like a burning match dropped in a puddle. When I wait for His timing the burning match makes it to the kindle and sets a fire ablaze.
God called me to read On His Plan For Your Life again and in reading it I felt called to take a little editorial liberty to revise it to deliver the message I’m certain I needed to receive and hopefully it will encourage some of you too. If by the grace of God the original ‘Anonymous’ author of On His Plan For Your Life happens to read this then please accept my gratitude for writing a powerful message from God that spans across the generations.
ON HIS PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE
(Revised for every day desires/goals/dreams)
Everyone longs to be satisfied in life with success, love, acceptance, respect, maybe even admiration; but God to a Christian says: No, not until you’re satisfied, fulfilled and content with being loved by Me alone; with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to me; to having an intensely personal relationship with me alone; discovering that only in Me is your satisfaction to be planned for you.
You will not feel the peace of being satisfied in your daily life until you are united with Me – exclusive of anyone or anything else, exclusive of any other desires or longings. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing, one that you cannot imagine. I want you to have the best. Please allow me to bring it to you. You just keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep experiencing the satisfaction that I Am.
Keep listening and learning the things I tell you.
You just wait. That’s all.
Don’t be anxious; don’t worry. Don’t look around at the things that others have gotten or that I’ve given them. Don’t look at the things you think you want. You just keep looking off and away up to Me, or you’ll miss what I want to show you. And then, when you’re ready, I’ll surprise you with success, love, acceptance, respect and admiration far more wonderful than any you would ever dream of.
You see, until you are ready, until you are satisfied and exclusively with Me and the life I prepared for you, you won’t be able to experience the satisfaction that exemplifies your relationship with Me.
And, dear one, I want you to see, within yourself, a picture of your everlasting union of beauty, perfection and love that I offer you with Myself. Know that I love you utterly.
I AM. Believe it and be satisfied.”
Blessings
