In a waltz the male has to lead. He takes his partner by the hands, and firmly but gently as the music begins he leads with confidence, keeping track of the beat, directing the partner by his firm hold and slight push or pull. To do a waltz effectively the partner has to trust that they are being led in a direction that is clear of obstacles and also has to be aware that the next step, dip or turn relies on the lead’s perception of the dance.
Often when I’m in Mass there are particular songs sung that lead me into this persistent visual of Christ and I waltzing. Physically my body relaxes, the stress in my shoulders subsides and I allow the music to give life to this dream, the realilty of Christ leading me, gently but firmly guiding me. There are dips, turns, and times when He pulls me close and comfort of being in His close embrace gives me interior strength.
There will be the day that I will be done with His plan on earth and I know He will greet me at the threshold of Heaven asking “May I have this dance?” 🙂
Blessings
