One of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits was when Mike Myers would play a woman who kept getting emotional and ‘verklempt’…she’d be so overcome with emotion she would tell everyone ‘Talk amongst yourselves…I’m feeling verklempt.’

That is EXACTLY how I’m feeling right now. These past two days need to run together because every time I turn around it seems someone else is doing something kind for me and my family or for the ministry and I am overcome with emotion.
Last night the Dion’s hosted a fundraiser for Hopeful Hearts Ministry in honor of celebrating receiving our 501 c3 status. Having been a school night and the end of many sport seasons I was surprised and humbled by the showing of guests.
We raised just about $5,000!!! I have no words to express what I’m feeling. To be able to share with a crowded room of friends, acquaintances and even strangers what I believe is a great need today and that is to help survivors of abuse reclaim their worth by having a voice and to spread awareness so maybe we can break generational abuse or prevent it all together.
Asking for money is not my forte so I went along with the presentation as the VP of my Board did for me but tried to still be true to speak the way I always feel called to speak and that is by saying what comes to my heart.
Plus showing Jenna’s video and then having her present for the event was not only a gift to me but important for everyone to meet with her and truly see that she is okay, she’s strong, and she has something to say that she’s not ashamed.
Plus today spending time with Brenda, Jenna’s mom, and Jenna before they headed back home was a gift in itself. And opening the many gifts of ornaments that were a surprise given to us last night!
…..talk amongst yourselves because I’m feeling a bit verklempt. 😉
