At 11:23pm on Thursday evening another earthly mentor completed her purpose and passed on to an eternal life.  Linda Cussen wasn’t just my boss when I worked at St. Martha’s (she was head of the Adult Faith Formation department) she was more of a voice of reason with an impeccable power to calm.

There were days, especially in the last year when I was personally struggling with where God was calling me, that I would sit in her office and she would ask me pertinent questions that had to be divinely inspired because they always sparked a new revelation or understanding in the current situation.  When she gave the teaching for our Cornerstone Bible study the knowledge she shared was admirable.  What kept me coming back to her office was the gift of wisdom that exuded from every word spoken.

I wanted one more time to sit with her, to partake in this overabundance of wisdom, but the cancer was bad and kept her in the hospital and when she wasn’t I was human and had excuses and life kept me from making more of an effort.  Many of us did manage to say a virtual rosary with her via SKYPE just a few weeks ago and that was as close as any of us could get to our final goodbye.

What I’ll keep with me in the gift I received from knowing Linda is recalling her beautiful voice, truly the voice of an angel, say to me (and many of us as she neared the end) “I believe in God’s providence.  He knows what He is doing.”  She will be greatly missed, may she rest in the peace.

Today is not a day of sadness but of celebration for Linda is at HOME and I know she is enjoying having all the secrets of life revealed to her! 😉

Today is also of celebration in our house because it is Ryan’s 14th birthday!  My baby is 14. WOW…I can’t believe it, especially because I feel like I’m still 29!! 😉  I’m focusing on my son this weekend so I pray you all have a blessed weekend!

Take a moment and kiss your family that is close and call your family that is far.

Blessings
