A lot was accomplished today.  Every bit of Christmas decorations on the inside of the house have been taken down and put up (now my house is BARE and in desperate need of a decorator 911 revival).  I spoke with a few friends I hadn’t spoken to in a while and managed to set a date with one of my fellow ministry girlfriends to plan and set goals about our desire to implement a women’s retreat on healing.

By the time late afternoon rolled around I was beginning to wonder what I could write about tonight in the blog.  I could see how being organized and setting goals are certainly a part of being a good steward of God’s gifts but it wasn’t too exciting.  Oh, but should I ever question what constitutes dull?

At exactly 7:34pm tonight our yellow lab, Bailey, decided to spice up the evening.

We should have seen this coming…as she had already broken the other door (take note of the lovely cardboard display in the picture).  But isn’t that how it always is?  We see the problem, we know the cause, we sometimes make a feeble attempt to cover it up knowing it’s not a permanent fix.  We stare at the problem, mull it over, discuss it, stress over it, weigh our options but take our time in actually DOING SOMETHING to solve the issue until the problem explodes and we are FORCED to take action.

Thankfully, in this case, it’s only the door that is broken and neither beloved pet NOR friend were harmed.  However, for the rest of the night this bothered me…we’ve had new tempered glass (non-shattering) to repair the doors for over a week.  It’s been sitting in our garage.  Why did we wait?  Why DO we wait to take action for many issues in our lives when we have the answer right in front of us?  Ugh, complacency… it’s addicting.

On a final note…we have two labs, Rocky, our black lab is much more docile.  Couldn’t resist sharing this one with you:

(The gun is an air soft gun…don’t freak out! 😉 )
