It doesn’t matter whether or not we feel ready for our next mountain to climb we have to climb it in order to get to the other side.  Sometimes we might stand at the base of the mountain wishing God would do His wonders and move it out of our way.  God can move mountains right?  😉

So we stand there, at the base of this enormous obstacle and dread the energy, exertion, perseverance, patience and determination it will take to climb all the way up and make it all the way down the other side.  Finally, something moves us forward.  It could be that time is ticking away and there is no other option.  Or other times it is the simple fact that you finally get antsy and bored of standing at the base of the mountain.  We need to get to the other side and so we take that first step, then the next, and the next and before we know it we are a 1/4 the way up, then 1/2 and though it’s tiring, frustrating, and all the emotions that caused us to dread the journey, we are doing it anyway. By the time we reach the peak of that mountain we get to see the view of the other side, the goal, the reason we had to climb to begin with and upon looking back at where we came from we feel pride for having come this far.

faith for mountains

With renewed energy and purpose we finish out the journey to the opposite side of the mountain feeling invigorated, pleased, grateful for taking that first step.   By the time we reach the next base of a mountain we can remember the last journey to encourage us to make that decision sooner to avoid allowing the dread to creep in.

Where are you today?  Are you at the base of the mountain waiting for something to make you move or are you waiting for it to move out of your way?  Are you in the midst of the climb?  Or are you finally at the peak with renewed hope of what lies ahead?  No matter which stage you are in remember that you are not alone and God has equipped you with everything you need for the journey.

Tomorrow is Seth’s procedure.  Weather permitting I suppose.  We are in TEXAS and scheduled to have a ‘winter storm’ of snow and ice flurries.  🙁  I don’t want to postpone this procedure!  The wait has been my ‘base of the mountain’.  For me, I hate the wait.  Ready or not let’s get this party started.
