If it’s been awhile since you have looked around my website I encourage you to do so soon!  I have updated the tabs in an effort to make it easier to navigate AND I’ve added a page featuring links to past talks recorded from events such as World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney, Steubenville Conferences and Young Adult Events.  I am working on getting video of talks uploaded soon!

Okay, this next bit of news might make some of my more ‘loyal’ readers heave a ‘sigh’ for me as it seems I’m going back on what I’ve been trying to do all along (minimize! 😉 )  BUT this idea has crossed my mind since before Christmas and I keep putting it off.  I can’t ignore it when it comes to me as I’m in prayer so I have to at least give it a try.

I won’t go into full detail until I know I have all of my ducks in a row (it will involve some video and I’m gathering material as well)…but if you are old enough to remember ‘Dear Abby’ or Anne Landers then hopefully you’ll get a kick out of this new project! 🙂

Here is a sneak peak:

Dear Shannon,

One evening out of the blue my seven-year-old son asked me why God wasn’t married. I found myself in a predicament because I wasn’t sure how to answer that in a way to really help his mind grasp it. Do you have any advice on how I can explain this to him in a way that might make sense to him and not cause more confusion?

~  Lost in the Mystery

Dear ‘Lost in the Mystery’ –

It is so hard to answer these questions when they are simply that –  a MYSTERY.  It reminds me of staring up at the stars with my youngest and him asking, “If God made us, who made God?” It makes my head hurt just to consider that question! 😉  My simplest answer was – “I don’t know…it is a mystery and one that you’ll have to ask Him when you get to Heaven.”

That answer might suffice, but being that young boys are very curious and very persistent you may try this for an answer:  God is listening to and answering the entire world’s prayers and that’s a BIG job!  If He were married His wife would probably feel a little jealous. (If you want to go a bit deeper…) –  It’s the same reason priest’s aren’t married.  They are married to the church – to all of US and they spend their time taking care of our spiritual needs as a church family just as God spends all of His ‘time’ taking care of the WORLD’S needs and prayers.

I do hope this helps!

Blessings

Shannon

** As I continue with this project, I will make it clear (and legal) that my advice is simply that – ADVICE.  It is my OPINION only and though I am guided by my Catholic faith my answers do not necessarily represent the Catholic Church as an entity. In fact, I will stay clear of theological and liturgical questions as I am not a liturgist nor a theologian.  I will only speak on experience and the little bit of wisdom God has given me. 🙂 **
